Plain-language summary: The Hub collects only the information needed to operate local listings, submissions, lost/found pet reports, claims, privacy requests and anonymous usage measurement. Do not submit private information that is not needed for the purpose of the service.
The Community Hub is operated by the organisation or person identified through the Hub's published contact details. Privacy enquiries, corrections and removal requests can be submitted through the Privacy / Correction / Removal Request page.
Depending on how you use the Hub, this can include business contact information, business submissions, claim information, pet report details, a general last-seen area, optional public phone/WhatsApp details, images you have permission to publish, and information you submit when asking us to correct or remove information.
We use information to operate the local information and discovery service, publish information that a submitter has agreed may be public, respond to correction/removal requests, protect the platform, keep listings accurate, and measure aggregate actions such as listing views, calls, directions and WhatsApp clicks.
Pet reports are designed to minimise personal information. A general area is used instead of a private residential address. Public contact details are optional and are displayed only where publication permission has been recorded. Images are published only where the submitter confirms that they have permission to publish them.
Public pet reports normally expire after 30 days. Closed or reunited reports are removed from the active public list, and personal contact/image details are automatically de-identified after the retention period configured by the platform.
The Hub may list factual business information obtained from the business, an owner submission or legitimate public sources. Businesses can request correction, claim, or removal of information. Paid or featured placement is advertising/promotional placement and does not mean that the Hub guarantees the provider's workmanship.
The Hub measures actions such as page views, listing impressions, listing detail views, calls, WhatsApp clicks, directions and website clicks. The platform is designed to measure these actions without needing a customer's name, ID number or phone number.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, legitimate operational records, dispute handling, security, or legal obligations. Short-lived community information should not be kept publicly indefinitely.
Closed or cancelled Compare Quotes requests are designed to have direct customer-identifying details de-identified after the configured retention window (V1.9.3 defaults to 90 days).
Information intentionally published on the Hub is visible to the public. When you choose to contact an independent provider, your communication is with that provider directly and their own privacy practices may apply. The Hub does not require providers to route customer payments through the Hub.
Compare Quotes Lite: if you submit a quote request and tick the sharing consent box, the Hub may share the request details and contact information you supplied with up to 3 participating local providers for the specific purpose of allowing them to contact you about that request. The Hub does not use that consent as permission for unrelated marketing.
The Hub uses access controls, authenticated administration, rate limiting, bot protection, audit logging and backups as reasonable operational safeguards. No online system can promise absolute security.
You may request that inaccurate personal information be corrected, that information be removed where appropriate, or that a privacy concern be reviewed. We may need enough information to identify the record and reasonably verify that the request is legitimate before changing another person's or business's information.
This notice may be updated as the Hub changes. Material changes should be reflected on this page and in the forms where information is collected.
Important: This is an operational privacy notice for the platform. It is not a substitute for professional legal review of the operator's specific POPIA obligations, Information Officer arrangements, contracts, or other South African legal requirements.
